Determining cardinal temperatures for eight cover crop species

چکیده

Growing degree days (GDD) is a tool to predict plant growth and can be adapted for use in any species, including cover crops. A limitation of the GDD calculation accurate temperature parameters used development. For most crop cardinal temperatures are not well defined literature, leading less GDD. The objective this study was determine eight Austrian winter pea (Pisum sativum), balansa clover (Trifolium michelianum), barley (Hordeum vulgare), black-seeded oats (Avena sativa), common vetch (Vicia cereal rye (Secale cereale), crimson incarnatum), hairy villosa), using chamber experiment. Seven different regimes from 4 34°C were implemented, number leaves counted day 0 21. As result, data regressed estimate each species. results research identified base (2), optimum (3), maximum (8) crops that previously reported. Five determined what recorded; −4.5 24.8°C rye, 3.9 26.6°C clover, 3.4°C clover. successful identification these will allow development biomass prediction models aid termination decision support tools.

Estimation of Cardinal Temperatures for Tomato (Solanum lycopersicom) Seed Germination Using Nonlinear Regression Models

Extended Abstract Introduction: Seed germination is one of the most important factors which determine the success of failure of crop establishment. In the absence of other environmental limiting factors such as moisture, temperature would determine the rate and overall seed germination. This research was conducted to investigate the effect of temperature regimes on seed germination, quantify t...

Cardinal temperatures for seed germination of three Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) cultivars

Quinoa (Chenepodium quinoa Willd.) is a grain-like crop which has a high potential of crop yield under arid environments. The objective of this study was to evaluate the responses of seed germination rate and percentage to temperatures and estimate cardinal temperatures in three quinoa cultivars (i.e., Sajama, Titicaca and Santamaria). Germination of quinoa seeds were daily counted at the tempe...

investigations on the cardinal temperatures for germination of alhaji pseudalhagi

in order to investigate the germination characteristics and cardinal temperatures of biotype alhaji pseudalhagi, a laboratory experiment was conducted randomized completely design with four replications of 25 seeds. various constant temperatures 5, 8, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50ºc were considered. the characteristics such as percentage of seed germination, rate of seed germination, th...

Correlations of field populations of nematodes with crop growth responses for determining relative involvement of species.

Treated and nontreated field plots were assayed, and the population density of each plant-parasitic nematode present was compared with crop growth and yield and with the population densities of other nematode species in the same plots. The strongest correlations between nematode population densities and growth responses occurred when soil assays for nematodes were made 55-73 days after planting...

Estimating the cardinal temperatures of germination for Ipomoea hederaceae and Cleome viscosa at constant and alternating temperature conditions

Extended abstract: Introduction: Reports indicate the invasion of two species of Ivy-leaved morning-glory (Ipomoea hederaceae Jacq) and Asian spider flower (Cleome viscosa L.) to summer crops fields such as soybeans in Golestan province. Considering the importance of knowing the cardinal temperatures of germination in the models for predicting the presence of weeds and consequently designing c...
